The Campus Cat Coalition is a community run by UNSW staff and students that takes care of the stray cats across all UNSW campuses (mainly the Kensington campus). The Campus Cat Coalition ensures that all stray cats within the UNSW campuses are well fed and in good health by regularly feeding them proper cat food, spaying or neutering them, and generally monitoring their wellbeing.
As you can tell, the original website design is very bland and old-fashioned for something as adorable as cats! Being a cat person myself, I thought I'd give the CCC justice by bringing life and cuteness into their overall branding, primarily their website.
The original website is pretty text-heavy, with less emphasis on what the community serves. In the redesign, I implemented colours, graphics, and images of cats to really hit it home.
Vina Sans is the chosen header typeface for the redesign. The combination of block text with funky colours gives off a retro, print feel.
I chose Salted for the sub-header typeface to balance Vina Sans; the scratchy handwriting-style typeface gives a cheeky vibe to the bold heading.
Area Normal is the typeface chosen for the body paragraph for the best legibility.
